Summer Programs
A handful of local schools and schools across the nation have devised summer programs for students. Usually these summer programs take one of two forms. They are either a daycare type program for younger students peppered with valid learning excursions and physcial activities or a series of camps for older students focused on certain academic areas. Examples of the latter include camps like Math or Science based programs. The school makes some money, the kids gain some valuable experiences, working parents are provided with a safe, instructional, daycare alternative. Would the St. Mark School Community be interested in the creation of such programs?

We would absolutely be interested in this. The Montessori school our children belonged to did this and it was a tremendous asset. The children need some intellectual stimulation over the summer!
I think a summer academic program would be great. Although my kids don't seem to mind doing the Bridge books over the summer,us "stay at home" moms would love a break from kids at times!
I would be very interested in a program for older grade school children! Something like Bradley's World of Wonder where each week-long class is on a different subject like mini-medical school, veterinary, space, sports. They make learning fun and provide a productive way for kids to spend some of their time.
It really depends on the hours available for this and definitely the cost but it is a good idea.
Absolutely.
I know a dad who'd probably be available to help with some computer-based stuff.
Very good idea!!! Will the program be based on weekly or monthly fees? I have already made 5 weeks of lans for my ST.M. student...but would love to have her in something at the school.
