What to do with all the students who are tardy?
For various reasons we have a high percentage of families who are chronically tardy to school. A survey of area schools reveals that there is a wide range of approaches to handling this problem. Many schools simply document the late arrival and leave it at that. Some schools assign detention to students who are chronically tardy while others levy fines. What are reasonable consequences? What are reasonable expectations for arriving on time?

I don't know about the rest of the families, but if our kids are close to being tardy it is probably 90% our fault as the parents. Maybe the problem would be solved by having parents sit in detention, or take over some chores around the school like cleaning the toliets or mopping the floor. :0)
Indeed... very few kids walk or bike to school. Very nearly all, are driven by mom n dad. If they are late, it really is beyond the kids responsibility if mom n dad are pokey.
