Underhill One Way? Yes, No May be So!!
Steps have been taken to zone Underhill one way. The zoning would allow Underhill to flow North to South. Traffic would enter from the Bradley / Underhill corner and exit through the alleys south of the school. Would this be beneficial for the flow of traffic before and after school? Would it make traffic during basketball games easier to manage?

This would enhance traffic flow as well as safety considerations.
Would you need to make the alley one way for safety? I support both
It would be beneficial to make Underhill one way. It is so difficult to drive down Underhill at peak times when a vehicle is coming from the alley heading north on Underhill. Its almost impossible to get through without hitting someone. I would think it would be better for the residents that live on Underhill also.
When I mentioned this to my boys the response was - "It's about time." So our vote would be yes. It will enhance traffic flow and safety of our children.

If the city makes Underhill one way, then they need to better maintain those alleyways. They are not maintained at their full width and the alleyways are not level (ie rutted). I can only exit one direction, as I will bottom out going the other two exit routes.
I support this.
It would definitely be safer and help the flow of traffic. Good idea!
There is a distinct DISADVANTAGE and danger to making Underhill one way, north to south. That will find cars parking on BOTH sides of the street and letting children off. Currently, very few children are dropped off from the east side. The percentage of kids who are dropped off on the east side of the street and who then cross to the west side will increase exponentially. They'll be crossing in front of traffic WAY more than they do so now.
If one way becomes law, we'll need to establish a pedestrial cross walk in front of the school and "person" it with guards. Otherwise, the resultant crossing may lead to a serious accident.
A serious suggestion:
the kids are late cause the parent is late.
the parent is in a hurry, cause they are late.
new policy: make parents with late kids SIGN THE KIDS IN AT THE OFFICE DESK.
that means they'd have to take the time to come in and sign . .. otherwise, their kid doesn't get to go to school today. You either call the parent to come get them or they sit in time out all day doing nothing.
the next day, the parent comes on time. They don't want to go through that again.
just a thought.
