School Calendar

During the 2006-2007 school year teacher in-service days were scheduled every other month on Mondays and Fridays. The goal was to make arrangements easier for families. Half days were eliminated to provide for a better environment for the teacher training. As we sit down to make next year's schedule what are your concerns and recommendations? In your opinion was it better to take a whole day off as opposed to a half-day off? Love to hear your thoughts.

I absolutely think the full days worked out better. Easier for working parents (probably not for stay at home parents).

Full days work out much better for a family with 2 working parents. It's really hard to find a way home for my children on half days AND arrange for a sitter.

I have really appreciated this year's schedule and hope you are able to work this out for next year as well. I can't imagine they accomplish a lot in class when the day is shortened. It is much easier to make child care arrangements for a whole day off than a half day. Though aftercare was an option, my kids never wanted to stay at school when they could be off.

I agree with previous comments, although I must admit that I still tried to get Mr. Roy to watch my kids on those days. Seriously, it is much easier to handle whole days off that half days. This year worked out well for us.
